Russell Simmons Lights Out On Twitter Amidst New Wave Of Rape Allegations

Late last month, HBO said it would edit out any link to Simmons in its "All Def Comedy" show in the wake of an allegation by screenwriter Jenny Lumet, who said Simmons had sex with her more than two decades ago despite her repeated demands that he stop.

"My intention is not to diminish the #MeToo movement in any way, but instead hold my accusers accountable", he wrote. "The presumption of innocent until proven guilty must not be replaced by 'Guilty by Accusation, '" Simmons said in a statement. Sheri Hines, a former member of the hip hop group Mercedes Ladies who says Simmons raped her in his New York City office in 1983, told the Times she had been contacted by the NYPD on Thursday.

Tina Baker, a singer, alleged that Simmons raped her in the early 1990s, when he was her manager.

In a statement to People Magazine, Simmons denies all accusations, saying all acts of sexual conduct were consensual, stating the "horrific accusations have shocked me to my core".

Simmons, one of the founders of record label Def Jam Recordings, co-founded RushCard in 2003 and maintained an ownership stake until the sale to Green Dot. Once inside, Simmons allegedly drew a bath and pushed Moore up against a wall, groping her and threatening to tie her up because according to him, she was a "bad girl".

In 1987, Toni Sallie, a music journalist, met Simmons while on an assignment. The lawyers say that Simmons passed the test, in which he claimed he denied the charges against him by model Keri Claussen Khalighi, and plans to do the test again for allegations made by four others.
