Winter Storm Warning Issued For NNY

A clipper in the midwest drops south of our region tonight, glacing the region with light snow. For now, the weather service says there is some disagreement in the models with respect to any snow Precipitation may end up being mixed across parts of the area, and meteorologists will continue to monitor further developments of this system. Most of that snow will accumulate Tuesday night.

Lake-effect snow bands are beginning to break up and shift east.although more is redeveloping west a bit.

MAP: Snowfall totals from Monday night and Tuesday will hit 6 to 10 inches near Lake Michigan.

However, as usual with lake effect events, the NWS is reporting a majority of the county will likely see little to no snow accumulation. We break down what you need to know to get your week started on the right foot, below. More is expected with lake enhancement in the Snowbelt.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Northern Erie, Niagara, Orleans and Genesee Counties.

Tuesday: Mostly cloudy. Chance for snow showers.

Mitchell added with the temperature expected to hover around 20 degrees, wind chills throughout the day and evening will make it feel like it's below zero. Similar warnings are in place along the Lake Ontario shoreline and in Western New York. High pressure moving in from the Ohio Valley will bring a slight rebound on Thursday, with temperatures creeping up to near freezing as we head toward the weekend.
