Today, an all-new trailer debuted for Steven Spielberg'sReady Player One, a big-screen adaptation of the novel by Ernest Cline.

The trailers for Ready Player One (both the SDCC teaser and theatrical preview alike) focus more on the whiz-bang action and sleek visuals of the film than its substance, which only makes sense from a marketing perspective. Check out the new Ready Player One trailer below!

Based on Ernest Cline's novel of the same name, Ready Player One tells the story of Wade Watts, an impoverished 18-year-old who would rather spend the bulk of his time playing a popular MMORPG OASIS.

In order to escape from this miserable existence, the likes of Wade and his online friends indulge in a virtual reality simulation created by James Halliday (Mark Rylance), who has "recently shuffled off this mortal coil - but left behind a final game for his millions of users: Whoever solves his series of pop-culture quests wins the OASIS, along with its parent company, Gregarious Games". When Halliday dies, he leaves his vast fortune to the first person to find a digital Easter egg he has hidden somewhere in the OASIS, sparking a contest that grips the entire world.

Earlier this year we got a small peek into the world of 2045 OH where Wade Watts (played by X-Men Apocalypse's Tye Sheridan) escapes his bleak world through the OASIS, a virtual world where he joins an elaborate treasure hunt.

Ready Player One hits theaters on March 30th, 2018.

Ben Mendelsohn also stars in the movie along with Olivia Cooke, Simon Pegg, T.J. Miller and Hannah John-Kamen. Fans of the book Ready Player One needed no explanation, but anybody who was intrigued didn't necessarily understand what was going on.
