The Microsoft says that Lenovo is the partner manufacturer for this one special feature known as the "Always Connected PC" which is being known as now for its connection with the laptop anyway.

This feature "Always Connected" can be a tie-up with Qualcomm which was declared on the a year ago in the month of December. Microsoft Executive Vice President of the Windows and Devices Group Terry Myerson shared the details of first-ever Always Connected PCs from Asus and HP in a blog post.

These are the first laptops in the world to offer inbuilt Gigabit LTE capabilities, which basically means you can use e-SIMs or nano-SIMs to connect to the internet. With an ARM powered device, you can expect a battery life of around 20-22 hours. In addition, it has two USB 3.1 ports, an HDMI port, and a microSD reader.

The second laptop which was launched in the event is the HP Envy x2. Although the PC is bundled with Windows 10 S, the same operating system included with the student-focused Surface Laptop from Microsoft, buyers will be able to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro.

The Envy x2 is also powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset which is coupled with 8GB RAM and support for up to 256GB storage.

HP ENVY x2 is a detachable PC that comes with 4GB RAM and comes with a 6.9 mm thin frame. The keyboard is backlit with 1.3mm key travel for a smooth typing experience also featuring a keyboard cover and a stylus. "Being always connected wherever I am whether I am in the auto, airport or coffee shop, always being connected just feels like the most natural, safe and secure way to work with teams and be creative".

Various speakers discussing the battery life at the Snapdragon Summit at which the new devices were introduced put it into other terms, such as lasting a whole week of typical use without a charge or the freedom. I'm going to wait until I can test it myself to say those claims are legit.

As for the devices themselves, there is less in the way of form factor innovation for now and nothing disruptive about their prices. It will start shipping starting spring next year. Microsoft, on the other hand, showcased Adobe Photoshop running on an ARM version of Windows 10. So most third-party antivirus software will not work and also a majority of games that use anti-cheat software won't work either.

This is the particularly turn to be interesting as the Microsoft has previously collaborated mostly with the AMD and Intel which is manufacture x86 chips for its partner products. Now it is at the helm of yet another such shift with "Always Connected PCs" that are instantly on and always connected with incredible battery life. We are working on an ARM64 SDK that will enable developers to author applications for ARM64 and we'll have more news to share in the future. Imagine putting the guts of a smartphone into a laptop body, and then think of all the space you'd have left over.

Microsoft assures that there will be more companies coming on board; the OS developer itself will nearly surely use it to resurrect the non-Pro Surface line.

When it comes to premium laptops, it's just the Surface Book and the MacBook series that comes to your mind.
