Jimmy Kimmel Live! guest host Neil Patrick Harris was happy to report that Jimmy Kimmel's son is "recovering very well" after undergoing his second heart surgery earlier this week.

Now, Kimmel's wife, Live! producer and co-head writer Molly McNearney, has shared her perspective on the events that both led to and followed her husband's watershed moment.

"So, there I am, in my living room breastfeeding Billy with my mom beside me, and we're watching", said McNearney, who was still home on maternity leave. "I sobbed through the entire thing", McNeary said. "I couldn't believe the strength that it took to tell that story a week after it happened".

Molly McNearney, Jimmy Kimmel's wife and head writer, said he didn't even show her his May monologue.

"He didn't have to do that", she said.

Six months ago, Jimmy Kimmel made the health care battle personal.

Here's the "How I Met Your Mother" alum's best-received quip of the evening: "I'm what's known in Hollywood as a triple-threat: I sing, I dance, and I don't sexually harass people".

Jimmy tweeted, "Very thankful to Chris @PrattPrattPratt for filling in for me tonight with guests @MargotRobbie & @ChrisStapleton. I'm so glad he's doing well". "That was all him, all his heart".

Kimmel has gone on a week off to spend time with his family as his seven-month-old son recovers from a successful heart surgery performed on Monday. Just like in October when the host took a few days off for a family cold, he's has asked a few celebs to take his spot on the show.

Of course, some have accused the couple of "politicizing" their son's heart problem, which McNearney says is nonsense.
