Police bodycam shows United States politician caught in hotel room with teen boy

The politician admitted guilt for child sex trafficking in a plea deal that saw child pornography charges dropped.

A police analysis of the teen's phone found text exchanges in which Shortey referred to him as "baby boy" and offered him cash in exchange for "sexual stuff".

On Tuesday, the Moore Police Department released body camera footage of Shortey opening the door to his Super 8 Motel room during a welfare check on March 9 with two unmade beds in view behind him.

When officers knocked on the motel room door, Shortey told them he was alone, according to a redacted police report.

Shortey, who served as Trump's Oklahoma campaign chair, was also wearing a t-shirt citing the Bible verse Ephesians 5:22 - which urges wives to submit to their husbands - with the words, "now go make me a sandwich" emblazoned below.

Moments later, he seemed to push back against the authorities, asking, "Can you show me that he's only 17?" "I can put you in handcuffs and put you in the back of a auto".

Shortey, elected in 2010, resigned his state Senate seat in late March.

Several times, officers remarked about the strong smell of marijuana coming from inside the room. Shortey was hiding behind the door.

He admitted that drugs were in the motel room.

"We were just hanging out, talking about life and stuff", Shortey told police.

This means Shortey isn't just a hypocrite and a pedophile; he's also a chauvinistic sexist. Shortey pleaded guilty to child sex trafficking last week and a sentencing hearing is pending. After U.S. District Judge Timothy DeGiusti accepted Shortey's guilty plea, he ruled Shortey would remain in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service until that date. Until then, he will be held in jail.

The Trump-supporting former Senator is now awaiting sentencing, and could face life imprisonment and a maximum fine of £185,000. By making a deal, Shortey, 35, hopes to avoid being locked up for almost the rest of his life.

In exchange for Shortey's plea, US prosecutors agreed to drop three child pornography counts against him at his sentencing hearing, which is expected to occur within the next 90 days.
