Page Six notes that Lauer was not only an alleged creep; he reportedly was so ruthless and insecure about his position as NBC's golden boy that he "killed off, in their infancy, every man who could succeed him at the time that he was ready to hang it up-so there's nobody to take his place". "He is my friend..."

Lauer's shocking termination from the show happened just one week ago and while his former co-hosts and colleagues were devastated by his firing, the network could be filling in his spot sooner then we think.

It has also been revealed that Lauer and his wife, Annette Roque, have been living in a separate homes before the allegations against Lauer came out.

"She is not going to stay with him and work it out".

He's married to ESPN sports anchor Lindsay Czarniak; they have two children together. On Monday, Lauer was photographed dropping his son off at school with his wedding ring on his finger, but he has since removed it. According to paperwork first obtained by the National Enquirer, in the filing, Annette accused her husband of "cruel and inhumane acts", reportedly also claiming that Lauer was controlling about "even the smallest decisions", and alleging that he showed "extreme anger and hostility" towards her. What he has done is bad. "Says the insider, "[Matt's] focus is on his family".

Lauer, who was sacked from the Today show last week, has been married to Ms Roque since 1998 and the pair has three children together. He apologized in a statement Thursday, but said that some of the accusations are "untrue". To the people I have hurt, I am truly sorry. "Me too. Everybody is feeling quite sad", he added. I regret that my shame is now shared by the people I cherish dearly. It is now my full-time job. It's been humbling. I am blessed to be surrounded by people I love. "I thank them for their patience and grace".
