British musician Ed Sheeran has received an MBE at the age of 26.

But when quizzed if he would like to do it, he replied with a grin "yeah, why not". Upon accepting the award, Ed said, "My grandfather.died on this day four years ago, so it's actually quite a nice full circle thing".

The singer, 26, caught up with reporters at Buckingham Palace on Thursday, December 7, where he received an MBE from Prince Charles on behalf of Queen Elizabeth, signifying Sheeran is a member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in recognition of his services to music and charity.

The MBE has a lot of personal meaning for Sheeran, too: His late grandfather, Bill, was a "massive royalist" - i.e. a massive fan of the Royal family - and this MBE would be a huge deal to him, who passed away in 2013.

Sheeran's latest single flawless, newly re-worked as a duet with Beyonce, is expected to top the charts this week.

Sheeran was also enthusiastic about his time working with Eminem on the American's latest album, describing the experience as "really amazing". 'I don't have a vast amount of talent compared to other people.
