It's a bit odd that it took Google until now to get to Gmail for the iPhone X, as it has already seen its way to updating Waze, YouTube, Google Home, Maps, and the aforementioned Drive apps. Not to forget the notch above the display taking away some of the screen real estate.

Alongside iPhone X support, the new Gmail update adds the ability to use non-Google (third-party) email accounts - this is something that's been available on Gmail for Android for years now.

Google has finally upgraded Gmail and Google Maps on iOS to support the new iPhone X that went on sale last month, featuring a 5.8-inch Super Retina bezel-less display with its infamous "notch" on top.

Gmail for iOS is available as a free download on the App Store now.

If you're an iPhone X owner, you'll be happy to know that many Google apps have received updated that give them support for Apple's latest handset. With today's update, Gmail users can use their Outlook, Office 365, iCloud, Yahoo, or IMAP/POP3 accounts with the iOS app. The reset of the UI looks exactly the same as before, just a little taller with a cutout for the iPhone X's camera and speaker arrangement.
