Morris has coached SMU for three seasons.

Morris was a longtime high school coach in Texas with 15 years as a head coach at five different high schools before taking the offensive coordinator position at Tulsa in 2010. Pete Thamel of Sports Illustrated first reported Morris' improved candidacy.

Morris, the current head coach at Southern Methodist, took a Mustangs team with a 1-11 record in 2014 to a 7-5 record this season and a berth in the Frisco Bowl. Prior to SMU, Morris had an ultra-successful run as Clemson's offensive coordinator.

According to multiple reports and one source close to the situation, SMU head coach Chad Morris will be named the next head coach at the University of Arkansas. He was instrumental in the recruitment of former star Tigers quarterback Deshaun Watson.

The former Texas high school football coach is also a Texas recruiting dynamo - something the Hogs are in desperate need of.

Even bigger news for the Razorbacks could be who he brings with him.

Sources tell us to expect Morris to target Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables for his defensive coordinator spot on staff. Venables has produced top 10 defenses nationally in each of the last four seasons, and the two close friends worked together at Clemson from 2012-14.
