"She was just a attractive person - and we want to express our gratitude for everyone who has shown support for our family".

Gonzales says doctors told them Murrieta had the flu that turned into pneumonia.

Murrieta leaves behind a two-year-old and a six-month-old.

"They were trying to resuscitate her, and they tried for several minutes and they told my sister there was nothing else they could do, that she was gone", Gonzales said.

"Monday she was still feeling sick, so her sister took her and her kids to urgent care". Joie went home sick from her warehouse job the next Sunday and went on Tamiflu, a drug created to treat viral flu symptoms, the next day. The whole family got sick after Thanksgiving, Gonzales said, but everyone made a quick recovery except for Murrieta. "I still don't understand how this happened to her so fast - she went from feeling a little sick on Sunday to going to urgent care on Monday and then being gone by Tuesday afternoon", Gonzales told BuzzFeed News of her niece, whom she described as amusing and loud.

Gonzales added that Murrieta was coughing a lot when she reached home that day from the clinic.

Murrieta's oxygen levels were low and an x-ray revealed she had pneumonia. Murrieta arrived at the hospital about 7 a.m. that day and passed away at 3:25 p.m. She was placed on a ventilator but never recovered.

According to Murrieta's family, she was perfectly healthy and did not have any pre-existing health conditions.

Medical experts found that Australia's flu vaccine, which has the same composition as the one used in the US, was only 10 percent effective in preventing the strain of the flu virus that circulated there this year, according to a perspective published in The New England Journal of Medicine. FYI, if you have the flu and experience difficulty breathing, chest pain, confusion, or sudden dizziness, get your butt to the hospital, Adalja says.

"I have a son too and it kills me to think the babies won't see their mother", a friend wrote on a GoFundMe page created by Murrieta's cousin to raise funds for her funeral.
