If you selected an iPhone for T-Mobile, it will come with the appropriate nano-SIM, but you'll need to contact T-Mobile or visit an Apple Store to activate your iPhone.

Apple quietly began offering a new SIM-free unlocked model of the iPhone X last night.

The SIM-free iPhone X will work with any carrier, whether it's a GSM one like AT&T or T-Mobile, or a CDMA operator like Sprint or Verizon.

Prior to Monday evening, customers had to choose a wireless carrier in the US, buying the phone with an AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile or Verizon SIM. While the color models are limited, which was not the case when the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus were launched, Apple has never introduced a phone with a design that is even close to this.

The high price tag of the iPhone X remains for the unlocked models: a 64GB device costs $999 while the 256GB model costs $1,149.

Reports of the iPhone X running in short supply raised questions on when an unlocked iPhone X might be made available, especially among users who didn't want to be tied to a specific telco with a standard, two-year contract.

As for its hardware, the iPhone X features a 5.8-inch OLED display, which is the first time ever in an iPhone.

Will you be upgrading to the iPhone X anytime soon?
