Additionally, Khalighi explained the reasoning behind why, in her initial recount of the alleged incident, she didn't leave after the first assault, adding she was hoping to normalize "what was an incredibly hard-to-process situation in the moment, as a 17-year-old".

She also explained how Simmons' recent statement refuting the claims has had an effect on her personally. Simmons previously claimed that his interaction with Khalighi "occurred with her full consent and participation".

Keri, who is pregnant and due to give birth to her third daughter next week (27Nov17), admits the new controversy has been "so confusing and re-traumatising", adding, "What he's speaking about privately with me is completely different than what's come out publicly (sic)".

Simmons, now 60, denied the allegations in a statement. "I looked over at Brett and asked for help because I thought we were friends".

"I nearly don't even want to speak against that because it's ludicrous", she added, mentioning, what she told the Times, that she's spoken with Simmons about the encounter both in person and over the phone, where, she told Kelly, there was "no dispute of what we were talking about". Part of that relationship stemmed from Ratner's ability to provide Simmons with models - according to an excerpt from his book "Do You!: 12 Laws to Access the Power in You to Achieve Happiness and Success", Simmons stated about Ratner: "After he hung around a bit and figured out that I liked models, then he made it his business to take me to every model's apartment he could find". "We've had phone conversations where we've had a conversation about what happened, where there was no dispute of what we were talking about", Khalighi told Kelly in a live interview.

According to Khalighi, when she ran into Simmons previous year he apologized for the incident.

She went on to say that the "lies and the denial" were 'really, really upsetting, disappointing and quite honestly, just repugnant'. I'm amazed by her courage and bravery to speak out against Russell Simmons and Brett Ratner.

Simmons has not commented publicly on Khalighi's appearance on "Megyn Kelly Today", and a request for comment from his attorneys was not immediately returned. She said during that call he didn't deny any of her claims but apologized and mentioned that he's the father of two daughters. "If I can use my experience to further this conversation and to facilitate change in any way, it might not be right now that we see the fruits of this labor". "I am bound and determined to make this environment better and safer and more empowered for my daughters and for the sons and daughters of the future generation, and it starts with conversations like this".
