Chris Cokley led UAB with 25 points and eight rebounds.

Jordan Bohannon (30) and Tyler Cook (29) notched career highs in points during Wednesday's win.

"He put us on his back and put us ahead", head coach Fran McCaffery told the FloHoops broadcast team after the game.

Bohannan also made all six of his free throws for the Hawkeyes (4-2), who salvaged a win out of the tournament after losing to Louisiana and South Dakota State. This should be a fun game and could go either way, but I think UAB can bag a cover here. Any time a guy makes six 3s, that's what you focus on. But with Connor McCaffery being sidelined with mononucleosis following Christian Williams' departure, the Hawkeyes guard depth has taken a bit of a hit.

Isaiah Moss' basket got the Hawkeyes within 66-64 with 3 1/2 minutes left but Jenkins' hit a 3-pointer and converted a three-point play, and King added a layup with two minutes left for a 74-66 lead.

S. DAKOTA ST. (4-2) - Theisen 2-2 0-0 5, Daum 4-11 1-2 10, King 7-13 1-2 16, Howell 0-4 0-0 0, Tellinghuisen 4-12 5-5 15, Key 1-2 0-0 2, Flatten 0-1 0-0 0, Jenkins 7-12 6-7 23, Severyn 2-4 3-3 9. Zach Bryant and Jalen Perry each scored 16 points, combining for two rebounds and four assists in the overtime loss. "But we wanted to go inside and Luka and Tyler had big games and it all starts with your point guard".

The Iowa men's basketball team didn't have the Cayman Islands Classic it wanted.

Louisiana finished 27-for-53 (50.9 percent) from the floor and was 24-for-31 (77.4 percent) from the free throw line, including 18-for-21 in the second half. It also finished 8 of 13 (62.5) from behind the arc on the strength of Bohannon's performance.

Iowa (4-2) led early in the game but then went 9 minutes, 47 seconds without a field goal, allowing the Blazers to open a nine-point lead.

The Hawkeyes held a big advantage on the free throw line.

"When we come down and call a play, we're running an action, you've got to be in the right place, you've got to screen at the right angle". Assists-Iowa 16 (Bohannon 7), SDSU 10 (Daum 4).

"We moved it; we executed", McCaffery said.

After blowing out their first two opponents at home, the Hawkeyes needed something to get their confidence back, and this game might have done just that.

"We had to do it on the defensive end after they had the run", Marlin said. "We did a really good job of getting to the line".

"Those first two games we lost were obviously good teams, but we grew every single game we played".

"We came with energy the entire game, we didn't relax", Iowa freshman Luka Garza said.
