Hong Kong Super Series: Son Wan Ho ends Sai Praneeth's campaign

The ace Indian shuttler triumphed the Japanese 21-14, 21-17 in the second round match which lasted over 39 minutes, reports ANI.

Saina Nehwal notched an easy win in the opening round over Mette Poulsen to enter round 2 of the Hong Kong Open Super series. In the next round, Saina will face eighth-seeded Chinese Chen Yuefi, who won the bronze medal at the Glasgow Worlds in August.

Earlier in the day, Rio Olympic silver-medallist PV Sindhu and HS Prannoy kicked off their campaign in the tournament with contrasting wins. She will now cross swords with Aya Ohori of Japan.

Prannoy, now ranked 10 as per the Destination Dubai Rankings, needed to book a berth in the semifinals to be in the race, but he went down fighting to Japan's Kazumasa Sakai 21-11, 10-21, 15-21 on Thursday. Kashyap lost 21-15, 9-21, 20-22 to South Korean Lee Dong Keun in an hour and nine minutes.
