Following the explosive announcement of Valkyria Chronicles 4, Sega has been posting additional information on the game on the series' official Twitter account, and it's exciting stuff.

It takes place during the second Europan War, around March 1935 EC.

A press release goes on to say that all of these characters will "experience the painful realities of war". Upon its conclusion, Valkyria Chronicles 4 was officially announced.

Fans of the series will have to wait until next year's release date to get their hands on the game, but Shacknews will keep you posted on any news from SEGA about Valkyria Chronicles 4 as it breaks. It features a team of characters working closely together, in the thick of war against deadly adversaries. Be sure to check out the trailer above! The western release - including the western exclusive Xbox One version - will be releasing sometime next year. As for USA release, we only know that all three versions will come sometime next year. The hybrid turn-based/third-person action combat system (BLiTZ) will be back too, with a new Grenadier class and chance to perform a "Last Stand" before death (and more promised besides). Plus, fight the imperial threat with more units on larger-scale maps than ever before. And, as the video below demonstrates, so too is the "CANVAS Graphics Engine" (albeit overhauled for a new generation of hardware). Watch the journey of Squad E unfold like an interactive painting!

As an added bonus, legendary composer Hitoshi Sakimoto will also return for Valkyria Chronicles 4, further illustrating that the game will be returning to the series' roots.
