Today FM have issued a brief statement this evening stating that Al Porter is taking "personal time" away from his weekday show on the national broadcaster.

The 24-year-old has yet to comment on the allegations, though Today FM did respond to the situation in a statement released last night. "Likewise, we take the welfare of our presenters and staff extremely seriously" a spokesman said.

TV3 also chose to cancel a planned rerun of the finale of Blind Date - a show fronted by Mr Porter - on Saturday evening. He is also the host of TV3 television show Blind Date, which started this October.

And the TV station pulled a repeat of the final episode of the show.

"The organisation would encourage the people making these allegations to report them directly to the Garda Siochana and to the organisation itself so that they can be thoroughly investigated".

"No further comment will be made by Today FM at this time" it added. The repeat was scheduled to run on Saturday evening.

The company has spoken with Al Porter and his management team and said they take any comments of this nature extremely seriously.

Separately, four comedians told The Times that they had been touched inappropriately by Mr Porter at shows over the past five years.
