As the Metal Gear, Uncharted, and Bioshock movies sizzle in development hell, production on the movie based on the 1986 Bally Midway arcade game Rampage is in full swing and the first trailer has been released.

Rampage will feature Dwayne Johnson as Davis Okoye, a heroic primatologist who works closely with an albino silverback gorilla named George.

Now the unusually intelligent creature has become part of a genetic experiment that radically increases body mass and size. The trailer shows us other creatures that have been turned huge and need to be stopped. Basically, it's a modern take on King Kong. The arcade game of wrecking buildings with very big, mutated animals will be in theaters before you know it.

Along with Johnson, Rampage also stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan (The Walking Dead), Naomie Harris (Moonlight), Joe Manganiello (upcoming Deathstroke), Malin Akerman (Watchmen), Jake Lacy (The Office), Jack Quaid (The Hunger Games) and P.J. Byrne (The Wolf of Wall Street). Brad Peyton is the movie's director, marking his second collaboration with Johnson after 2015's San Andreas, while Ryan Engle tackled the script. Rampage will unquestionably be the blockbuster heavy hitter its opening weekend, as its competition includes smaller fare like Tully and Super Troopers 2. Johnson re-teams in the film with New Line and producer Beau Flynn, who would produce through FlynnPictureCo., alongside's Rickard's Rickard Pictures, whilst Johnson and Dany Garcia of Seven Bucks Production were also given production capacity credit. "It's 12- to 14-hour days of survival, and it's not quiet survival either".
