During a late night search at the Poes Garden house of former chief minister J Jayalalithaa on Friday, officials of the Income Tax department's investigation wing seized a laptop, a desktop and a few pen-drives from two rooms used by jailed AIADMK leader VK Sasikala, according to sources. He said he sought permission to enter the bungalow as he was Sasikala's counsel. It's illegal. I am going to take legal action against them.

More than ten IT officials were at Veda Nilayam, which Sasikala once shared with the late AIADMK leader. Heavy police deployment was seen in the area and visuals from the site showed cops carting off protestors in buses.

Meanwhile, there was high drama outside the Poes Garden residence as ardent AIADMK supporters, a lot of them supporters of sidelined leader and Sasikala's newphew, TTV Dhinakaran, gathered in protest.

Reportedly there were protests outside the Poes Garden residence by TTV Dhinakaran supporters.

Friday's developments came days after the Income Tax Department carried out extensive, multi-day raids at more than 150 properties, mostly in Chennai.

Income Tax officials were reported to have detected undisclosed income of Rs.1,430 crore in the raids.

Sources said the search was for possible unaccounted for wealth owned by Sasikala, who is serving a jail term for corruption.

All the premises in those raids were linked either to Sasikala, her nephew TTV Dhinakaran or Jaya TV.
