Apple's HomePod speaker delayed to 2018

"HomePod packs powerful speaker technology, Siri intelligence and wireless access to the entire Apple Music library into a attractive speaker that is less than 7 inches tall, can rock most any room with distortion-free music and be a helpful assistant around your home".

The delay is unfortunate for anyone who needed $349 worth of Siri in their homes, but it's also a bad look for Apple's wireless audio division. AirPods, the company's truly wireless earbuds, faced a similar delay when they were introduced this time a year ago.

Apple's HomePod Siri-enabled speaker delayed until "early 2018"

HomePod was revealed back in June 2017, a streaming speaker that physically embodied Siri, and which promised both smart home control and better music playback than other such products on the market. The Apple HomePod is a wireless speaker for the home that delivers premium audio quality and uses spatial awareness to sense its location in a room and automatically adjust the audio. "We'll start shipping in the US, UK and Australia in early 2018".

The speaker was originally slated to be released in December.
