This is not the first time a case like this has happened in Germany as another man was without his vehicle for two years after forgetting where he left it following heavy drinking.

In a freaky incident, a man has finally found his auto after forgetting where her parked it 20 years back.

The whole thing started in 1997, when, unable to find exactly where in Frankfurt he'd left his Volkswagen Passat, he assumed it had been stolen, notes the Daily Mail. According to the Metro, authorities in Frankfurt found the auto in a garage in a building which is set for demolition.

The vehicle was in the way of the demolition so it was reported to the police who then investigated who the owner was.

He reported the theft to police and apparently just went on living his life.

"Twenty years later, the authorities in the city have tracked down the missing vehicle, only to discover that the man who owned it had in fact, just forgotten where he'd parked the auto and had assumed it had been stolen", reported Independent.

After rotting in the parking for 20 years, it was deemed unfit for driving.

The city cuthorities said the auto was not functional and had to be scrapped.
