Deepika is now waiting for the release of controversial period drama Padmavati that is going to hit screens on December 1.

While Deepika, as we know, is the one who will be holding together Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Padmavati, it was Hema Ji who took the load of Razia Sultan on her own shoulders back in 1983.

Based on the story of queen Padmavati, the film has been surrounded by controversies ever since the start of shooting. Organizations and individuals have claimed that Bhansali has distorted history and are demanding the release of "Padmavati" to be stalled.

Deepika in her interview to IANS said, "It's appalling, it's absolutely appalling".

Well, after all, we aren't living in the stone age and wonder how people might get on to do their own jobs, instead of poking into the celebrities personal life.

Mumbai: Deepika Padukone has made a decision to step into a minefield: She has lashed out at those protesting against the release of Padmavati, in which she plays the main protagonist. And where have we reached as a nation? This is not about "Padmavati"... Deepika Padukone also received a special gift from Hema Malini for launching the biography, where the latter mentions about passing on the baton to her. Deepika shared the picture with a namastey emoticon.
