The playmaker was speaking for the first time on his decision to shun Bafana Bafana, who take on Senegal in a dead rubber World Cup qualifier in Dakar on Tuesday night.

Just before kickoff the stadium lights blacked out, which delayed the game by several minutes while workers scrambled to fix the situation.

Prejuce Nakoulma scored a hat-trick as Burkina Faso trounced Cape Verde 4-0 in a match played simultaneously in Ouagadougou.

Bafana Bafana play their return leg against Senegal in Dakar on Tuesday night, a game that has little outcome as Senegal have already secured their spot for Russian Federation 2018 with a 2-0 victory over South Africa in Polokwane on Friday last week.

That match was a replay of a game which South Africa won 2-1 previous year, but Federation Internationale de Football Association annulled when they discovered it had been "manipulated" by Ghanaian referee Joseph Lamptey.

However, the Burkinabe have refused to accept Senegal's qualification as official, revealing that CAS have accepted their appeal, which will be heard on "December 1 at the latest".

Sita Sangare, who is the current president of the Burkina Faso FA, was confident that his charges would secure a ticket to Russian Federation, but Senegal spoiled the party with a last-minute goal against Bafana. And that could renew both South Africa's and Burkina Faso's hopes of qualifying over Senegal under certain conditions. We now need a big win against Cape Verde, and for Senegal to only draw in Dakar.

Serero failed to arrive for the double confrontation against Senegal at the conclusion of the World Cup-qualifying campaign after his demand for a berth in the starting line-up was rejected by coach Stuart Baxter. "If the national team wants me‚ then I must play".

At halftime, Senegal-South Africa was tied 0-0, while Burkina Faso led Cape Verde, 1-0.
