FBI Signals Possible Investigation of Planned Parenthood, Other Abortion Providers

WASHINGTON-The FBI has asked to see documents gathered by the Senate Judiciary Committee during its investigation into whether abortion providers like Planned Parenthood sold baby body parts for illegal profits. Pro-life activists have welcomed the move as a first sign of a criminal probe into the abortion giant. Senate Judiciary Chair Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, referred Planned Parenthood to the FBI at the conclusion of that investigation, saying his committee found evidence indicating the group was profiting.

Grassley said the Judiciary Committee investigation uncovered evidence showing abortion providers had transferred tissue and body parts from aborted fetuses to firms for use in research by charging dollar amounts above their actual costs. However, there wasn't anything conclusive to indict Planned Parenthood, as state investigators did not find concrete proof, according to NPR.

Susan B. Anthony List and its partner super PAC, Women Speak Out spent more than $18 million in the 2016 election cycle, knocking on more than 1.1 million doors in battleground states to defeat Hillary Clinton and maintain a pro-life Senate. "Not content with their status as the nation's largest abortion business, evidence shows Planned Parenthood sought to squeeze every last opportunity for cash from the sale of hearts, brains, lungs, and livers of the unborn children whose lives they end". The transfer of aborted baby tissue, organs, and bodies is legal if: Planned Parenthood demanded prices for the sale of tissue and organs that only covered their costs associated with the transfer of remains, obtained informed consent from the mothers, and did not change their abortion procedures to acquire more saleable material.

"These accusations are baseless, and a part of a widely discredited attempt to end access to reproductive health care at Planned Parenthood".

It is against the law to sell fetal tissue for profit.

"And our governor joined other governors around the country that were shocked", says Mimms, "and did not want to participate, even as a Medicaid provider, being in cahoots with Planned Parenthood in their states after finding out that Planned Parenthood was involved in the selling of baby parts for money".

"We can confirm the Criminal Investigative Division (CID) of FBI Headquarters received your referrals and sent them to the relevant FBI field offices for review and whatever action is deemed appropriate", the FBI's Gregory Brower wrote to Grassley in June.

The SBA List statement said those three congressional committees never cleared Planned Parenthood because their investigations simply came to a quick halt when the Senate's major investigation formed and took over. "Only a thorough investigation by the Justice Department will ensure that women and their unborn children are protected from the unsafe motivations behind this criminal conduct", she said.
