"But these are certainly Total War games".

The first game in this Total War spinoff series has been namedd as Total War Saga: Thrones of Brittania, telling the story of Britain's history immediately following the Norse invasions. To that end Thrones of Britannia will be based on the Total War: Atilla engine, but will not require the former game to run, instead being a standalone title. "This will complement our broader-scope titles perfectly". And watch the announce trailer here https://youtu.be/nGI-EKX5O5w. "They'll follow-on from previous Total War games and inhabit the same time-period, or at the very least relate to it". The strategy series now has 15 entries that have combined sold over 20 million units.

But again, what is this "Total War Saga" spin-off series?

In detailing what qualifies as a Total War Saga game, CA describes it in their FAQ from earlier this year as being bigger than a standard Campaign Pack while not being an entirely new era-spanning Total War game like the main entries in their franchise.

In July, Total War creators Creative Assembly announced Total War Saga-a new branch of its familiar historical war tales that will "focus on a specific point in history", against the base games' overarching eras. Creative Assembly has, with their exceptionally talented team of over 500, amassed a wealth of awards, including recent accolades from BAFTA, Music+Sound and Develop's Industry Excellence awards. The company develops and distributes interactive entertainment software products for a variety of hardware platforms including PC, wireless devices, and those manufactured by Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.
