Liverpool target Leon Goretzka 'not certain' to leave Schalke, says club chief

Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka wants to move to the Premier League with both Liverpool and Chelsea interested in signing him.

The Germany global will reportedly join the Reds in January, with the player having turned down the chance to move to Barcelona due to being unimpressed with their contract offer.

Now, El Desmarque and El Mundo Deportivo report Schalke have bookmarked Camarasa as their preferred replacement for central midfield.

Sport claim that the aforementioned clubs are the two teams most likely to sign him in the summer.

The Sporting Director of Goretzka's current club Schalke 04, Christian Heidel has said of the player that "we have done everything in our power to get him to stay, we can not do anything more" regarding the club's attempts to extend the player's contract. He has been linked with a number of clubs including Tottenham, Barcelona and Arsenal.

According to Don Balon, via the Daily Star, Liverpool have reached an agreement to sign Goretzka when the next transfer window opens.

The young midfielder has enjoyed a breakout 2017, starring in Germany's Condfederations Cup win before racking up four goals in nine Bundesliga appearances this term, as Schalke have risen to fourth in the table under new coach Domenico Tedesco.
