In an emotional dedication to her, Fallon explained all of last week's tapings had been cancelled so he could be with his family following the devastating loss.

Fallon teased the appearance on his Instagram earlier Monday, saying, "I wanted to make sure we have a very very special, big musical performance and we got one!"

Fallon told a story Monday night about how his mother would hold his hand as a kid, and would squeeze three times and tell him that she loved him.

Fallon expressed gratitude for all the support he had received all week long.

"We are going to continue to work really hard to bring some light and some laughter into the world", Fallon said to the audience. Thank you for watching.

The "Look What You Made Me Do" singer debuted track number 15 off her new album, "New Year's Day".

Fallon's mother died peacefully in New York City's NYU Langone Medical Center on November 4 due to an undisclosed illness.

An NBC spokesperson also extended condolences on behalf of the network: "On behalf of everyone at NBC, we extend our deepest condolences to Jimmy and all his family at this time of enormous loss".

The show must go on, but not before a touching tribute to Gloria Fallon.
