French newspaper Le10Sport (h/t Calciomercato.com) reported Griezmann has given the green light to a move to the Camp Nou and could be well on the path to joining the Blaugrana next summer.

Manchester United look set to miss out on their long-term key transfer target Antoine Griezmann, as the French superstar is believed to have agreed terms with La Liga giants Barcelona.

The Frenchman was heavily linked with a move to Jose Mourinho's Manchester United at the beginning of this season, but that changed after the striker saw his club's transfer ban being upheld by Federation Internationale de Football Association.

The same article explained how Griezmann pulled the plug on a switch to Manchester United last summer due to Atletico's transfer ban, and he then extended his contract to raise his release clause to €200 million (£178 million).

The French website claims Barca have stepped up their chase for the 26-year-old forward and have been in secret contact with him for several weeks over a possible move.

That embargo expires in January, when Atletico will welcome Diego Costa into their squad amongst others, although any deal for Griezmann is expected to wait until the summer.

Discussions are now understood to be at a very advanced stage, with both parties close to agreeing a deal - although Barca must still negotiate an agreement with Atletico too.

The news will be a major blow to Jose Mourinho, who had hoped to revive his move for Griezmann as he looks for more firepower up front.
