Liverpool midfielder Emre Can has reportedly identified Manchester City as his ideal destination next summer.

The Germany global, who is out of contract next summer, will be available to talk to foreign clubs in January.

As a result, many clubs have expressed an interest in Can and signing him for free will be one of the biggest bargains for any team.

At present, the 23-year-old is demanding close to £150,000 a week to stay at Anfield.

Losing Can to a direct rival will definitely be a massive blow for Liverpool and the Reds hierarchy will definitely hope that the 23-year-old will join a club overseas if he indeed decides to leave Anfield.

It is reported Can wants a release clause included in any contract negotiation.

Giving such a clause to him might ensure he remains at Anfield at least for the 2017-18 season, but it would be setting a risky precedent to give any player a release clause below market value-especially with the way transfer inflation has impacted prices in recent years and could again.

Jurgen Klopp reportedly remains hopeful that Can will pen a new deal at the club.

Can's current deal expires at the end of the season.
