West Ham United made contact with the former Watford manager Quique Sanchez Flores in October, according to Monday's edition of Catalan newspaper, Sport (page 22).

"It's been many years since I was there for a couple of seasons, but I really enjoyed my time".

"If West Ham end up getting the Everton team from when I left, they will be loving it because we had a great team in the last two years".

"To be fair, the West Ham fans are a bit ruthless and they can get on your back".

'It's tough times at the moment but it's a fantastic opportunity for me.

Moyes replaced the Croatian signing a short-term contract until the end of the season.

The above fictitious quote is merely the exaggerated response of brand new West Ham United manager David Moyes when asked whether or not Javier Hernandez has a future at the club, considering each of their struggles at Man United during the 2013-14 season (Moyes was sacked before the end of his first season; Hernandez scored just four Premier League goals). "I'm really excited by the challenge", he said.

"I obviously know David well from our time together at Preston and Everton, and it was certainly a big attraction to work with him again, as was the thought of coming to a club like West Ham".

"I'm delighted to be given this opportunity and am really looking forward to the challenge ahead", he said.

Moyes is preparing for his first game in charge of the Hammers against Watford on Sunday, following his appointment as successor to the axed Slaven Bilic last week.

Moyes had been without a job since he resigned as Sunderland manager in May following the Black Cats' relegation to the Championship.

Former England Under 21 manager Pearce has been out of management since leaving Nottingham Forest in 2015.
