Now, the latest word to come down says that she's unfortunately out, and that Peyton List is in.

"In the continuing evolution of Poison Ivy's origin story, Ivy Pepper has been transformed once again taking another step toward becoming the Ivy we know from the comics", reads a statement from the Gotham producers.

Gotham has recast Poison Ivy for a second time. Unsafe. A live wire of insane energy. When she returns in early 2018, after going through some risky new changes, Peyton List will replace Maggie Geha in the role. According to the show's producers, Peyton's version will be "dangerous" and a "live wire of insane energy" with the intent to turn the city into her own green paradise. She will be replacing actress Maggie Geha who had replaced actress Clare Foleyin the role.

While a new age for Ivy wasn't mentioned, it can't be that radical a transformation, given that List is just two years older than Geha (who was meant to be playing a 19-year-old). The ageing process for Ivy has to stop at some point and, if fans like her performance here, this could be the ideal time.

Fans of comic book television will likely recognize List from her role as Lisa Snart/Golden Glider on The CW's The Flash.

Gotham airs on Thursday nights on Fox. She went on to star in "The Tomorrow People" and "Frequency", but both of those shows were cancelled before ever really getting off the ground. The List version of the character is expected to first appear sometime in 2018.
