However, according to a report from AAA, the rate at which prices are declining is beginning to slow, and pump prices should soon level out.

AAA Michigan says the average gas price in the state is down about seven cents to $2.51.

"The streak of falling prices should come to an end this week", Jenkins said.

"Continued growth in oil inventories will keep a ceiling on oil prices, and prevent gasoline prices from making strong gains", Jenkins said.

The most expensive gas price averages in Florida were in Miami ($2.57), West Palm Beach-Boca Raton ($2.55) and Fort Lauderdale ($2.50).

In Ann Arbor the average price of a gallon of gas is $2.54, down 6.1 cents per gallon. "However, the discount at the pump is not now forecast to be much lower than present levels".

Gas prices in Lancaster County surged 42 cents in late August and early September, as Hurricane Harvey disrupted the operation of refineries and pipelines in Texas and Louisiana. That's down from $2.69 in the days after Irma made landfall in Florida.

Moderate price increases in several parts of the region can be attributed to the steady decline in gas inventories.

But as always, bargains could be had for motorists who know where to look.

According to www.gasbuddy.com, prices around Coldwater Monday morning were between $2.40 and $2.46 a gallon. All three were selling at $2.29.
