North Carolina senior guard Joel Berry II will miss the first few weeks of the season with a broken hand, the school announced Monday.

North Carolina's regular season starts on November 10 against Northern Iowa, meaning Berry will not be on the floor for the Tar Heel's first game of the season.

Berry is coming off a standout junior campaign in which he was the Final Four's Most Outstanding Player in 2017 after being awarded the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament MVP in 2016. "We have a unique opportunity to engage with three schools that are part of the UNC system, whose coaches also have close ties to our own program, to partner in this event".

The teams will each play a total of 40 minutes, with that time being divided into a trio of segments against each of the other schools.

"The recent hurricanes caused so much damage", Tar Heels coach Roy Williams said in the statement.

The event will benefit the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund. Tickets go on sale October 25 for $20. ECU coach Jeff Lebo and UNCG coach Wes Miller both played for the Tar Heels.
