Assistant coach Jay Triano, a former head coach of the Raptors, was named interim head coach.

"I Dont wanna be here", point guard Eric Bledsoe tweeted Sunday, just as the news of Watson's firing surfaced in an ESPN report. Watson initially served as an interim coach for Phoenix in 2016, taking over the team after Jeff Hornacek was dismissed. They loss to the Trail Blazers on opening night by 48 points and lost to the Clippers by 42 points on Saturday night.

Of course it's possible someone tweeted that message from Bledsoe's phone or something, but you've got to imagine he's thinking it, even if he didn't mean to say it.

Bledsoe was traded to the Suns before the 2013-2014 season from the Clippers. With an extremely young team, the Suns struggled under Watson. He took the job just over a year after his coaching career began with the Austin Spurs of the D-League. Watson was entering his second full season at the Suns' helm after he replaced Jeff Hornacek, who was sacked 49 games into the 2015-16 campaign.

Triano, from Tillsonburg, Ont., had been serving as an associate coach with Watson. "Or a lot more, until you know they're just tired".

After a three-way point guard competition between Mudiay, Jamal Murray, and Jameer Nelson that lasted from training camp through the day of Denver's regular-season opener in Utah, Murray - who' is recognized by many as Denver's future at the point guard position - started the Nuggets' first two games. Phoenix has not made the playoffs in seven years, the longest drought in the franchise's 49-year history. This marks the first head coach firing in the National Basketball Association since 2016.

Here are five candidates to be the next Phoenix Suns head coach.
