Southbay Tip-A-Cop raises money for Special Olympics

National City Police and Coronado Police waited tables at the Bonita Red Robin for the annual Tip-A-Cop fundraiser.

"For 12 years, Red Robin has partnered with Special Olympics and we are proud to have raised more than $4.8 million through the Tip-A-Cop program", said Jonathan Muhtar, Red Robin's senior vice president and chief marketing officer.

Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and Brews restaurants will go blue as law enforcement members "serve" guests in a different way to support Special Olympics Missouri.

This year's event will take place from 11:00 a.m.to 2:00 p.m. and then again from 5:00 p.m.to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017.

Tip-A-Cop is part of the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run® (LETR) campaign in support of Special Olympics.

State troopers from the Bremen post were the servers at Red Robin in Mishawaka, collecting money for Special Olympics Indiana.

"Our athletes then benefit and can compete in sports tournaments and health programs and have the same opportunities that everyone else has on a daily basis", says Karen Kraus, Director of Special Events for Special Olympics Wisconsin.

"We live here. This is our community as well", Kingsley said.
