Rest in Peace: Brent Briscoe

The actor was known for playing diner owner JJ in U.S. sitcom Parks and Recreation, along with playing Detective Dave Macklay in David Lynch's 2017 Twin Peaks revival.

Briscoe passed away on Wednesday in L.A. after a serious fall that led to internal bleeding and heart complications, according to Variety. Brent had played hundreds of characters through his career but his biggest role was with his family and friends.

His most critically praised role was as Lou Chambers in Sam Raimi's 1998 pic A Simple Plan, playing one of three men who discover a crashed plane with millions of dollars of cash. "He was as genuine as they come", his representative said in a statement.

Briscoe had a lengthy working relationship with fellow actor Billy Bob Thornton. Briscoe was also an writer on "Evening Shade" and on the films "The Right To Remain Silent" and "Waking Up In Reno".

Briscoe also recently guest-starred on series including Brooklyn Nine-Nine, NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service, Goliath and Justified and recurred as diner owner JJ on NBC's Parks and Recreation. Twin Peaks co-creator David Lynch had previously cast Briscoe as a detective in his 2001 film Mulholland Drive. "I loved him as an actor and as a person (...) This is really going to miss me not to work again with Brent", he said.

He also starred in movies The Green Mile and Mulholland Drive, alongside Naomi Watts and Justin Theroux.

The actor, who was not married, leaves behind his father Carl, his brother Kent and his sister Shelley.
