Gord Downie's Family Plots Public Memorial

From award-winning directors Jennifer Baichwal and Nicholas De Pencier, LONG TIME RUNNING chronicles The Tragically Hip's iconic 2016 Man Machine Poem tour and emotional final concert in their hometown of Kingston, ON. And that I was going to make it through this, but I'm not.

It also makes you feel like you're part of something. I think that's true for a lot of Canadians.

At some point on Friday (October 20), the family of Gord Downie had a private gathering to remember their husband, father, brother, son and bandmate.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau cried, as he delivered a touching eulogy for one of the North American nation's most-loved musicians. "Gord Downie's talent, passion, and heart made this country a better place".

Yesterday (October 19), the Peace Tower bells on Parliament Hill in Ottawa also memorialized Downie with unlikely rendition of "Bobcaygeon".

As previously reported, Canadians can tune in to relive some of Downie's most memorable musical moments this weekend.

In celebration of the life of Downie, CTV announced on Wednesday that LONG TIME RUNNING, the acclaimed film about The Tragically Hip, premieres with a special, advance broadcast event tonight at 8 p.m. ET/MT.

LONG TIME RUNNING will also be broadcast on its original airdate of Sunday, November 12 at 8pm ET on CTV, before it becomes available on the network's premium TV streaming service, CraveTV. And that's why his last years were devoted to Chanie Wenjack and to reconciliation.
