The team was on its way back from a "key leader engagement" with residents in Tongo Tongo, in the southwestern region of Niger near the Mali border when they were attacked by as many as 50 militant fighters thought to be affiliated with the Islamic State in the Greater Sahara.

A Broward Sheriff's Office motorcade accompanied the casket from the funeral home to Christ the Rock Church, located at 11000 Stirling Road in Cooper City, where family friends and the public have been invited to his viewing from 4 to 8 p.m.

The tragedy in Niger shocked many Americans, who knew little about US military activities there and never expected to hear about the loss of four highly skilled soldiers.

La David Johnson was found almost a mile from the central scene of the attack in Niger that killed four US soldiers - including Johnson - and wounded two other American soldiers, four administration officials familiar with the early assessment of the incident said Friday.

"They were young like me in those days", he said.

The FBI has also joined the investigation into the ambush. His awards and decorations include the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Army Parachutist Badge, the Army Air Assault Badge, the Driver and Mechanic Badge and the Marksmanship Qualification Badge - Sharpshooter with Rifle.

Prior to joining the Army, Johnson was an automotive engineer.

The media's infatuation with the condolence calls follows Trump saying on Monday that "President [Barack] Obama and other presidents, majority didn't make calls" to the families of fallen soldiers.

Johnson's death became national news after President Trump called his widow on Tuesday to offer his condolences. "He's a massive man and would handle any situation and lay down his life for a cause that he believed in, but if you sat down and talk to him, you'd realize that he had the kindest heart and he loved people", Wright said. Wright also said he told Mr. Trump about a colonel who told him his son had air support on hand.

His whining about how hard the calls are on him - and the apparent hash he made of a conversation in which he allegedly told one widow her husband "must have known what he signed up for" - underscored his cluelessness about being commander in chief.

Rep. Frederica Wilson, D-Fla. In fact, she said Washington approved the money before she was even in Congress. "But then Trump went on to suggest that other presidents hadn't done what he did". On Thursday, White would only say that "he was separated".

Officials who have spoken to CNN have cautioned that as the investigation continues, new information is likely to emerge and their understanding of what happened could change.

Trump has denied the claim and tweeted Wednesday that Wilson, "totally fabricated what I said to the wife of a soldier who died in action".
