Dracut, Massachusetts Mom Outraged After School Shaves Daughter's Head Without Permission

Imagine sending your daughter to school in the morning with braids or ponytails only to have her return later that day with a completely shaved head.

Robinson says her daughter Tru had a full head of long hair when she last had her.

"I am very upset".

A mother who is suing a residential program for kids says a clinician had her daughter's head shaved without her permission.

Robinson enrolled her daughter in the program because she reportedly has severe emotional challenges, and the girl has been splitting her time between the group home in Dracut and her family home.

Since it happened early this week, Robinson says nobody at Little Heroes Home answered her questions about why it happened, except to say they have authority to cut hair without permission for hygiene purposes.

"The program employs a diverse staff that is attentive to the needs of all children. Decisions regarding grooming are based on a variety of factors, including hygiene".

Robinson has since met with the school and shared that both the school and the volunteer have accepted responsibility, although she is still unhappy. There was no bed bugs. "Her hair was two ponytails on the side on Saturday and it was braided on the ponytails".

Officials at Little Heroes declined to go into the specifics of this case, citing state and federal privacy laws, only saying that 'a review of the circumstances is underway to determine what occurred and, if necessary, appropriate action will be taken'. Robinson says her daughter used to have long hair, but it was all gone on Sunday after she was taken for a haircut.

The organization says they can not reveal why the incident occurred but are performing an internal investigation.
