The Los Angeles Dodgers bludgeoned the Chicago Cubs 11-1 at Wrigley Field on Thursday night to win Game 5 of the National League Championship Series and advance to their first World Series since 1988. Long playoff runs in each of the last two years and a grueling five-game Division Series against Washington seemed to sap Chicago of some energy, and its pitching faltered against sweet-swinging Los Angeles. The Dodgers held a 3-1 lead after dropping the previous night's game but had their best pitcher on the mound in Clayton Kershaw.

The first game of the World Series starts Tuesday evening.

"And that's before there's confirmation of them playing the Yankees", said Gametime spokesman Sean Pate.

The Astros defeated the Yankees, 7-1, Friday, tying the American League Championship Series at three games a piece.

The World Series will be between the Dodgers and either the New York Yankees or Houston Astros. Another paid $72,008 for four seats in the second row behind the L.A. dugout.

Despite not knowing the official matchup for this year's World Series, there are some things to be taken away from the postseason so far that will help build anticipation for what's going to happen.

"When you're a kid, you just hope you make it to the big leagues so to get to go say you're going to go play in the World Series, it's an incredibly special moment". Some tickets for games at Chavez Ravine were even listed as high as $25,000.

While prices at Wrigley Field for last year's Series will likely have a higher average, numerous tickets sold came from fans. "Let's go Dodgers!" On the field, manager Dave Roberts hugged Lasorda and told the iconic skipper the win was for him.

The world has seen a seismic shift since the Dodgers last made it to the World Series in 1988. For the Cubs, Quintana did not have much success with the aggressive Dodgers lineup.

Los Angeles had to get revenge on a Chicago team that cruised by them past year en route to history of their own. The Dodgers, on the other hand, were almost untouchable on the mound.

Cody Bellinger and Charlie Culberson also both had three hits as part of the Dodgers 16-hit attack.
