When Jane Fonda compares the business Weinstein and DSK - Gala

In the last few days, actresses like Ashley Judd, Rose McGowan, Angelina Jolie, and Gwyneth Paltrow have spoken on the record about times Weinstein allegedly sexually harassed them.

The film star, who is also an active women's rights advocate, told CNN's Christiane Amanpour on Thursday that she "found out about Harvey about a year ago".

"I found out about Harvey about a year ago and I'm ashamed that I didn't say anything right then", the Oscar award victor told CNN Thursday.

Apparently, sometime a year ago, Weinstein victim Rosanna Arquette confided in Miz Fonda about the sexual harassment she suffered through thanks to Harvey.

Fonda was talking about what people have to do to curtail the kind of behavior Harvey Weinstein is accused of when she revealed that she knew about it for a year beforehand.

Fonda declined to discuss what Arquette told her. "Although he could be nice when he needed to", she said.

"I'm glad it's coming out, I'm so proud of those fellow actors that are speaking up". Arquette then left the room.

"It came as a shock and a great disappointment..."

As Amanpour noted earlier, it may seem surprising that Fonda, of all people, did not speak out after hearing Arquette's story.

Sadly, Jane couldn't be more correct with her statement.

Jane Fonda is feeling pretty guilty right now.

When pressed by Amanpour, Fonda said this sort of thing also happened to her in the past-though never perpetrated by Weinstein.

She was told of Weinstein's misconduct by Rosanna Arquette, who is one of the many women who has since come forward to speak out against the movie mogul since separate reports from the New York Times and The New Yorker broke, detailing claims of sexual harassment and rape against him.

Fonda's personal story about sexual misconduct involved a French director she worked with early in her career.

She cautioned against characterizing Weinstein's years-long abuse as being "some unique, horrific" case, saying "this goes on all the time".

"I got hired even though I didn't give him what he wanted", she recounted, noting she had nonetheless kept quiet about the proposition.

"It's unacceptable and we can't ever forget that and we have to stand up to them".

"I mean Donald Trump is - we have a man who is president who does these things".
