Furthermore, like in most EA and DICE games, your profile from a beta to the full game carries over, meaning that if you have the best of the best gear you will always have an advantage in the full version. Battlefront II will give away things like maps and character DLC for free, but it will use a loot box-style system for unlocking various upgrades that has fans concerned.

DICE and EA said they're working on ways "to ensure the game is fun for everyone", and that they'll be balancing the game over time.

Now that Star Wars Battlefront 2's (extended) public beta has come to a close, developers DICE and publisher Electronic Arts are processing feedback from the multiplayer test - particularly around the game's controversial implementation of loot boxes and player progression. Pre-ordering the standard edition of Battlefront 2 gets you Star Wars: The Last Jedi outfits for Kylo Ren and Rey, as well as a total of six Star Cards for upgrading Rey, Kylo and your starfighters.

For the most powerful items, they are working to make those only obtainable via in-game achievements. Crates are obtained by completing challenges "and other gameplay milestones" or by purchasing them-either with credits earned in-game or real-world money. The post went on to clarify exactly what will be in Battlefront 2's crates and how players can upgrade the game's Star Cards.

Star Cards impact gameplay and are players' major concern. Any duplicate Star Card that you receive, incidentally, will provide crafting parts for upgrading the card of your choice. Star Card upgrades and unlocking weapons can be achieved with a high enough rank which means you need to play to get your hands on these.

Each loot crate has been detailed to contain more than just cosmetic items - the crates will contain Star Cars, Weapons and "other" valuable resources.

"We also have heard some players are looking for a way to play where all players will have the same set of Star Cards with flattened values", reads the blog.

EA says that the complete system with Loot Crates and progression was not in the beta, and that it will be tuned over time.
