Before the global break, Man City boss Guardiola was discussing his side's rivals for the title. "To be above this type of comment", Pochettino said.

"I know Pep. When he's excited after an fantastic win he struggles to keep his position and be a gentleman", Pochettino said.

"I think that many people took those words as [being] very sad and disrespectful to the club".

His goals helped Spurs climb to third on 14 points in the league table.

"It is a team problem and I back Jermain to score a lot of goals for us in the future".

Pochettino said that Guardiola was "excited" after his side's victory over Chelsea, and joked that he struggled to "keep his position and be a gentleman".

Although Messi was Guardiola's key man, Barça wouldn't have been anywhere near as successful without the likes of Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Sergio Busquets, Carles Puyol, Gerard Pique, Dani Alves and Victor Valdes playing in the same team. "I feel in good shape and I just can't wait for the next games to come". I always said it was Barcelona with respect to Guardiola.

Pochettino believes the insinuation that his club are a one-man team is wide of the mark but accepted that all sides have their own stand-out players who receive particular praise and attention.

'I respect his opinion but it's sad, a sad comment and it's not right in football when we want to show fair play and respect. It's not him. He's a great manager, one of the best managers in the world.

"I think everyone knows how Tottenham is, Manchester City, Barcelona, and Argentina".

"Pochettino continued. "It's a collective sport". Of course sometimes it's hard, because in the media the temptation is to be focused on some players.

"Kane is a very important part of the success, today, of Tottenham".
