Gambit always was known for being a romantic, so it's only appropriate that his movie is opening on Valentine's Day. That, of course, relates to a chess move - aptly, the gambit - but more importantly it signals the movie is moving ahead at a good pace.

Channing Tatum's Gambit movie has had so many false starts, it's nearly surprising the star remains committed to the film.

A new Deadline report reveals that not only are they actively hiring for the film, but given it a release date of February 14, 2019.

It's official: Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski is taking the helm of the long-awaited Gambit movie.

In 2015, the Magic Mike star appeared at Fox's Comic-Con International panel to tease the standalone film.

Created by Chris Claremont and Jim Lee in 1990, Gambit, a New Orleans native mutant, quickly became a fan favorite due to his kinetic energy manipulation abilities and penchant for stealing.

Taylor Kitsch previously portrayed the character in the 2009 film "X-Men Origins: Wolverine".

Not only did the film's production lose its director, Doug Liman, the project was also forced to start from scratch after the team encountered creative issues with Gambit's original script back in August.

In addition to having Gambit on the way, Fox has New Mutants coming out on April 13, 2018, Deadpool 2 on June 1, 2018 and X-Men: Dark Phoenix on November 2, 2018.
