She was found with a gunshot wound to the back of her head, according to Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore, said Montgomery County Police Sgt. Rebecca Innocenti. A hearing is scheduled for October 20.

Tyler Tessier was arrested in September after Laura Wallen was found in a shallow grave on a property that belonged to a friend.

Allen Wolf, Tessier's public defender, said his client is innocent.

Tessier previously was charged with murder and two other charges related to Wallen's death and disappearance.

The remains were discovered more than a week after she was first reported missing, when she didn't show up for the first day of school.

Tessier admitted to police that he was engaged to another woman, court documents show.

Tyler Tessier is accused of killing Laura Wallen, a 31-year-old Olney woman who taught social studies at Wilde Lake High School in Columbia.

Police say Tessier admitted to certain aspects of the case, including driving Wallen's auto to Columbia and disposing of her driver's license and iPhone. A preliminary hearing is set for Friday morning.
