The event will take place on December 16 at Bell MTS Place in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

A pair of former champions will headline the UFC's next trip to Canada as the promotion has announced former welterweight title holder Robbie Lawler will face former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos in the main event of UFC Fight Night Winnipeg.

Next on the agenda as he climbs the 170lb. ladder once again is yet another former lightweight star in Rafael Dos Anjos.

UFC officials made the announcement on Thursday.

Lawler, who now owns a lifetime professional mixed martial arts record of 28-11 (9-2 UFC), will be heading into his second bout since losing the welterweight title to Tyron Woodley in July 2016. This bout marked Lawler's return to action after more than a year on the sidelines. It had been one year since "Ruthless" stepped into the octagon following a knockout loss to current champ Tyron Woodley at UFC 201.

Prior to moving up to the welterweight division, dos Anjos had dropped his last two fights as a lightweight, losing the 155-pound strap to Eddie Alvarez in July 2016 and then falling to Tony Ferguson four months later in November. In his next most recent outing, he defeated former Strikeforce champion Tarec Saffiedine by decision.

ESPN.com ranks Lawler and dos Anjos the Nos.

Along with this massive booking, two other exciting UFC on Fox 26 fights have also been announced: one pairing Galore Bofando with Chad Laprise, and another pitting Nordine Taleb against Sultan Aliev.
