Olly Murs joins ITV's the Voice - has Simon Cowell missed a trick?

"I'm absolutely buzzing about being a Coach on The Voice UK and can't wait to sit in the big red chair alongside will, Jennifer and Tom, explained Olly in a statement".

ITV revealed today that the former X Factor contestant will join Sir Tom Jones, Jennifer Hudson and will.i.am on the panel.

The first stage of filming kicks off this weekend in Salford, Manchester with The Blind Auditions being filmed down at Media City UK.

The Troublemaker singer quit the X Factor in February of a year ago amid rumours that he was about to be fired.

While Olly went on to present The Xtra Factor with Caroline Flack for two years in 2011, but quit in 2013 to concentrate on his music career - selling more than 17 million records worldwide.

"I'm excited to sit alongside Jennifer and Tom again this year, and I know that Olly will add a fun new twist to this year's coaches team", the United States star said of the new addition.

After months of rumours, from Kylie Minogue to Danny Jones to Jessie Ware, the line-up for the new series of The Voice UK has finally been announced.

It seems it isn't just Olly who is excited about his new role willl.i.am is also looking forward to working with the Essex boy.

A source said recently: "Simon isn't happy Olly's swapped allegiances, especially as he left the "The X Factor" to concentrate on his music". Olly was the runner-up on the 2009 series of The X Factor, and then had a very notable stint as the show's host in 2015. Jennifer will have more experience with her this time around following her win last series - she is now taking part in the U.S. version of the show.

Of course, the brilliantly talented Emma Willis is back fronting the show, after saying: "It's an absolute treat to work on The Voice UK".
