Microsoft Launches Four New Xbox One S Bundles

Now players can purchase certain Xbox 360 games and play them on Xbox One, but Microsoft said it was looking into expanding that feature to encompass the older console.

Speaking at the Brazil Game Show with Gamespot, Phil Spencer confirmed they're talking with Sony all the time about cross-play; however, the Japanese company doesn't seem like it will concede to the idea.

"I have a real struggle making comments about their motivation or timelines". We know in the gaming segment, there are a lot of people who play games casually and there's also people where gaming is their number one hobby. "I have a little dashboard I go to and I can see all the games [and] where they are in getting approvals in the pipeline". That reason is not going to go away. So we're putting Minecraft out there as one of the biggest games on any platform and allowing people to play together regardless of what device they bought.

"We talk to Sony all the time". Same with Nintendo. The relationship with Nintendo on this front has been strong.

This candid admission was pretty clear to anyone watching from the sidelines, but it does raise a few questions regarding the Xbox One's 2017 - if Microsoft were aware that the Xbox One X wasn't going to be a killer in terms of sales, then why has the Xbox One been left out in the cold for the majority of the year? "They should talk about what their view is..." Three out of four of these new bundles come with a free game out of the box, while the remaining one highlights the company's Netflix-like game subscription service, called Xbox Game Pass. What are your thoughts?
