Jose Mourinho wants Man Utd to sign Tottenham star Harry Kane

It's claimed the Red Devils made a £40m offer - plus Javier Hernandez - for Kane two years ago but Spurs rejected their rivals' advances immediately.

The Red Devils have always been linked with Kane and the 24-year-old striker has turned heads once again this season, scoring 11 goals in Spurs' opening nine games in all competitions.

Mourinho, though, is a long-term admirer and wants to strike a deal for Kane.

The Special One believes in partnering Lukaku and Kane to create a duo that can dominate Europe. The European champions confirmed that Navas had a "swollen adductor muscle in his right groin" in a statement on their website, but did not say how long the 30-year-old would be out of action.

They are said to be adamant all approaches for their star players, including Kane, will be turned down.

"They were told by Spurs there was no chance". "Zlatan Ibrahimovic will move on next summer, more than likely, freeing up a load of cash they plan to use".

With Tottenham determined to hold onto Kane, and Kane seemingly happy where he is, it could certainly be argued that United are hoping that at the very least, their offer will unsettle the forward on some level and perhaps lay the groundwork for a future move. It's going to be more than Kylian Mbappe.

He has scored a staggering 84 goals in 120 Premier League appearances since his debut in 2009.

That's the beauty of Dream Team Weekender - there are no budget limitations so you can pick any player available from this weekend's fixtures.
