The new Kindle Oasis improves on the luxury version of Amazon's e-reader line from past year with the addition of an ambient light sensor to adjust the front light, which has an increased number of LEDs and is now more evenly spread.

The Kindle offers over one million books, some of which are available to Kindle users well before retail release. Called the Amazon Kindle Oasis, the new reader is waterproof and boasts of certain advanced features. The new Kindle Oasis is priced at Rs. 21,999 for the 8GB model and Rs. 28,999 for the 32GB model (Wi-Fi + free 3G).

What is more interesting is the fact that this is the first Kindle Oasis device which is waterproof. Whether you want to read in the bath, the swimming pool or even in the rain- you name it- Amazon's latest Kindle can withstand being plummeted into two meters of water for up to 60 minutes. The device was the slimmest and lightest e-reader by the brand at the time. Also inbuilt is Audible, Amazon's standard feature which lets you switch between reading and listening modes more easily. The look of the last year's Oasis has been redefined. It will also make your device work much better and the Audible feature works on both Bluetooth headphones as well as on speakers. The default storage capacity is 4GB and can be increased to 8GB.

Ahead of the 10th anniversary of the original Kindle in November, the new top-end device aims to lead Amazon's e-readers into the next decade with a new aluminium design, longer built-in battery life and a larger, brighter screen.

New covers are also available in water-safe fabric at $54.99 (Indigo, Sandstone, or Charcoal) and premium leather covers at $69.99 (Midnight, Saddle Tan, or Merlot).
